We launched a statewide survey of faculty districts in fall 2021. A complete of 213 districts responded to the survey, and these districts serve 50 percent of the state’s K–12 population.

The high quality of instruction might have suffered in 2020–21 due to insufficient skilled studying alternatives. Research shows that 80 hours of intensive professional studying is required to vary/shift instructor instruction; and an extra eighty hours are needed to change the classroom surroundings (Supovitz and Turner 2000; Kenney 1998; Clewell et al. 2005). This means that lecturers will need sustained professional learning over multiple years to fully rework their instruction—key to success of NGSS. However, in a typical 12 months, half of public college lecturers obtain 9 to 32 hours of skilled learning on their subject areas . In this report we goal to look at the impact of COVID-19 on science education; understand the challenges in high-need districts; explore districts’ plans to support science training in restoration; and establish policy levers that may support an equitable science training submit-pandemic and past.
In our interviews with representatives from eight early implementation districts, we found they experienced the identical challenges that other districts faced during distant instruction.
